UPBRINGING:

Growing up in a big family, many of Sakari’s extended relatives lived on the reservation. She always enjoyed visiting them, immersing herself in her heritage and learning more about her culture and history.
In school, she felt like an outcast, so she was quiet and kept to herself. She couldn’t wait to get out. Sakari’s parents always supported her, and they lived a humble life. Her mother was a stay-at-home caretaker, so they became very close, like best friends, and she still calls her mother daily.

Sakari managed to graduate high school, just barely, but always hated being in school. She felt like no one understood her and she was bored by most of the lessons.

HEROES:

Sakari will forever look up to her mom for raising her so well, and she’s grateful to Pippa for stepping up as her mentor and giving her such a great opportunity.

Boat from a convention in New York City, eventually meeting Pippa, who took her under her wing and taught her all things event and activity coordination.

FOUNDATIONAL MEMORIES:

Sakari will always treasure learning about her tribe and heritage from her mother and finding her passion creating fun events for other people.

Sakari always found it hard to connect with people, some of her best friends were family, cousins around her age, and her mother.

ENEMIES:

Sakari barely has any friends; she couldn’t even consider making enemies …

PERSONALITY TYPE:

On Myers Briggs Type Indicator scale, she’s The Persuader type (Extraverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving).

GOALS:

Sakari’s number one goal is to one day own her own event planning company in New York City. She’d love to travel the world and see as much of it as possible, connect more with her background and culture, and she’s even considered catering her event planning company to heritage and cultural events.

MOTIVATIONS:

Sakari wants to live life to the fullest by creating amazing experiences for people that they’ll cherish forever.

INTERNAL CONFLICTS:

Sakari struggles with her desire to remain independent, but there’s an itch deep inside her to have a big family and carry on her ancestral legacy. Loneliness plagues her and she misses her family, especially her mother, and wants to run back to her childhood home. But she knows keeping with her career path is best for her, loves traveling the world, knows she must grow up, and cannot run back to her parents. She must face any fear that bubbles up.

WEAKNESSES:

While she tries to put on a confident, strong face, Sakari has a lot of self-doubt and feels like her lack of experience shows. Her inexperience in a grown-up environment and determination to prove her talent means that sometimes she doesn’t ask questions to her mentors or managers, which leads to failure to execute tasks correctly. Anxiety and nervousness make her a bit snippy, but she tries to deal with any attitude that accidentally slips out lightly and with a friendly chuckle.

DESIRES:

Sakari’s desires are simple; to be happy and fulfilled in life, make other people’s lives better through amazing experiences and one day be a well-known Event Planner.

FLAWS:

Her self-doubt, inexperience, and hesitation to ask questions tend to create sticky situations for Sakari.

SECRETS:

Sakari wishes she had a more exciting childhood and grew up in a large, magical city like New York City or Los Angeles where she could have made more connections. But she’d never tell her parents, because she’d feel bad, and she realizes she had a unique and amazing childhood.

At one point Sakari stole some cheap jewelry from the mall with friends succumbing to peer pressure but didn’t get caught. She felt incredibly guilty and secretly went in to sneak it back on the shelf when her friends were in the food court. No one except her old friends know, and she hopes to keep it a secret forever. She feels a deep, dark shame about it.

STRENGTHS:

Sakari prides herself on her organization skills, loves to spread joy, has a real zest for life, and is extremely ambitious for her age.

FEARS:

Consumed with creating the perfect version of her Event Planner career, she’s constantly afraid of failure, fearing she’ll drift through life picking up odd job after odd job, and never realize her dreams. While she does see herself as a career woman, she is paranoid she’ll be lonely for the rest of her life … no friends, no partner, no family.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Sakari is proud she found her way in the world independently. Her new opportunity to coordinate activities, granted by Pippa, is at the top of her list for greatest feat of all time.

MORALITY:

“Lawful Good”.

IRRITANTS:

Sakari tends to get irritated by people that don’t work hard, messy people, disorganization, clutter, and mean people.

Legacy:

Sakari would love to build an event coordination business that can live on even after she’s ready to retire. Although she’s unsure if she wants a family, she does have a fantasy that her children take over the family business.

The Proust Questionnaire

Answer these questions from the perspective of your character using their voice:

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Heh, I think I’ll be the happiest if everything goes smoothly with my new Activities Coordinator job. I can see it really leading somewhere. Wow! Am I lame or what? But I really just love making sure people are having a good time, and this is just … it’s just such a great opportunity for me.

What is your greatest fear?

Not to be, um, mean, or anything, but waiting tables forever would be pretty soul-crushing. I’m sure other people like it, but it just never really was for me. I am afraid I’ll never get to have my own Event Planner business, though. I really need this Activities Coordinator position to work out. Sorry for talking so much about it …

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

I wouldn’t say I’m the most confident person. I mean, I try. I … want all the guests to think I have it together. And my boss, too! But I’m really just so nervous, anxious and jittery sometimes. Always thinking about potential failure. Eek!

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

I don’t want to, like, talk bad about other people, but I’ve had to work with some pretty lazy people, and it drives me nuts! As a super hard worker, it just usually ends with me being mad that I’m picking up their slack. Totally not fun!

Which living person do you most admire?

This might be corny, but probably my mom. She raised me so well and made sure I had a connection to my heritage, even though we didn’t live on the reservation. She’s always supported me in whatever I wanted to do, even if maybe she didn’t understand why I’d want to do something like event coordination, or even what it was. She’s always helping with various communities and is so selfless. I love her so much and hope one day to be as great as her.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I once bought this super expensive planner and then immediately regretted it. Once I started using it, though, I thought it was way worth it. I’m just not really into things or, like, big, huge events or fancy travels for myself. I’d rather do things for others.

What is your current state of mind?

I guess, um, nervous, but kind of excited about the future. This new Activities Coordinator job could really put me on the map, but I’m so worried I’m just going to screw it all up. I guess, please send good vibes my way. Again, sorry for all the talk about my job. This really means a lot to me. It’s such an amazing opportunity that Pippa gave me.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

Oh, I don’t know much about that, but I think being overly confident or cocky isn’t great, or maybe, like, too friendly. Like, there’s friendliness, of course, I have to do it for my job, but then there’s, like, those people that won’t give you space. Does that answer the question? Oh geez. Maybe consider listing out what a virtue is next time? Hot tip from an extra organized person that loves lists. Heh!

On what occasions do you lie?

I guess I lied to my parents when I was younger because I hung out with some pretty bad people. I didn’t know how bad they were. I don’t really like lying, but sometimes to get the job done or get people involved, I might tell a little fib … maybe overinflate how fun something is. I guess most of my lying was to my parents, so that would be an occasion. And I’m not super proud of it. Please don’t tell them!

What do you most dislike about your appearance?

Um, oh geez, I guess I’ve always looked a bit different from most of my friends and stuff, so I wanted to look more like them. Light skin, light eyes, lighter hair. I’ve grown to love my dark hair, but I still kind of feel like I stand out, and I don’t love it.

Which living person do you most despise?

I had some friends in high school that weren’t the best. I don’t hate them for it, we were all poor and just trying to find ways to have fun, but I feel like they pushed me into stuff I didn’t like. There was one, and I won’t say her name, I’m not that person, but she kind of would make me the butt of the joke and then make me do things to be cool that made me uncomfortable. I guess I don’t really love thinking about her and all she made me do.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

Um, I guess a man that’s helpful. I really like that. Someone that can help you learn things or help you in tricky situations. But like, not in a creepy … “I have to help the woman because she’s a woman” way, more of a just good solid helpful guy way. Oh, geez, does that make sense?

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

I like a strong woman that I can look up to, almost a mentor-like person. Strong female examples are always something I’ve needed. I was lucky to have my mom to set a great example.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

I try not to overuse words. I think in my business being well-spoken is important, but I do stumble over words and I’m sure um or geez or stuff, things like that come out.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

I don’t know if I’ve met them yet, or even experienced love. I feel like I almost don’t have enough life experience to answer that question. Hah.

When and where were you happiest?

My first Event Planner job was probably when I was the happiest. Knowing that they trusted me to make something amazing for them, even though I’m so young. I probably called everyone I knew! Heh!

Which talent would you most like to have?

I think I’d like to be better at math and science and stuff. I always really liked playing games, and wanted to make them at one point, but I looked into programming, and it just made no sense to me, plus, I was just so bad at math and technical things. I’m sure I could learn it with some help, but event planning is just my jam. Still would be cool to be a computer wizard.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I didn’t get so nervous and anxious all the time. I really need to keep a calm head to show I can be a super great Event Planner. I just get so stressed sometimes by the idea of failing; it overwhelms me.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Being able to get out on my own and work my way into my dream career. It was hard without any contacts to start, but I was determined and managed to do it all on my own, and now Pippa has entrusted me with being Activities Coordinator, and I feel so, so honored.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

I’d probably come back as a tree that could live a long and uninterrupted life and just grow to greatness and be one with the Earth. That sounds so peaceful and interconnected. I wonder if trees have feelings. Oh, geez, sorry that was a weird thought.

Where would you most like to live?

Wherever the job takes me, really, but I think New York City is my next big stop. Tons of fancy events there and many opportunities. Plus, I’ve heard such great things about it!

What is your most treasured possession?

When I left to start my career, my mom gave me a little locket with a picture of her and my dad. It’s been in my family for a while, and it’s so special to me. I don’t ever take it off, and I hope it doesn’t tarnish since I shower with it. I’m just so afraid to lose it, I mean, I don’t even take it off to shower! I’m such a weirdo …

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Failing completely. I’m always thinking about failing at life, or my dreams and it’s a real bummer. I know I’m young and I haven’t yet, but it’s always there. Maybe it’s why I work so hard. If I’m always working, then how can I fail? Right?

What is your favorite occupation?

Definitely event planning! It’s my passion. I love making moments and events special for people. This Activities Coordinator position has been real fun too, and similar, I guess. But planning whole events, it’s just so fun. It’s almost like a puzzle you put together. The best!

What is your most marked characteristic?

Oh, I’m hyper organized! I’ve always stepped up to make sure things were in order, even when I was a little kid. One of my favorite toys was this little clipboard, and you could draw on it and erase it. My mom always thought it was weird that it was my favorite toy. Hehe!

What do you most value in your friends?

I guess I haven’t ever had great friends, but I’d like to have friends that I can just be comfortable around and have things in common with. Pippa is pretty cool, and a lot of the people on the ship, so I hope to maybe make some friends. But I think nice, good people. That’s what I’d like in friendships.

Who are your heroes in real life?

My mom is probably my biggest hero. There was a mentor I had at an old Event Planner job. While I don’t know if he was a hero, he definitely helped me learn a lot about the job, was super nice, friendly, and encouraging. I hope to meet more people I can call heroes, especially in event planning.

What are your favorite names?

Oh, geez, I’ve never thought about that. I think if I had kids, I’d name them things like Rainbow, Sunshine, things nature based. I always felt connected with nature and would love to honor it, but also, I really love my mom’s name, Cheyenne. I always thought it was pretty.

What is it that you most dislike?

Ugh, I really hate when things are disorganized, or messy, or out of control. It makes me feel so uncomfortable and I almost feel like I have to fix it immediately!

What is your greatest regret?

Oh, geez, hanging out with bad people in high school. I really didn’t like who I was back then. But also, maybe, I wish I’d gone to college, and gotten more connections in the industry. I know I don’t have to, but I think it would just make things easier. Also, I feel like I missed out on making lifelong friendships, so that bums me out.

How would you like to die?

Surrounded by nature, outside in a beautiful flower covered field with lots of big trees, almost feeling my return to the Earth. So peaceful!

What is your motto?

Oh motto … never thought about that, I guess I should think about that, at least for my business. But, hrm, maybe “I create fantastic experiences that you’ll never forget!” Ugh, that’s so cheesy, I’ll workshop it.
